Most of the love we see on earth is conditional with strings attached. We get to just receive that unfailing love, even when we mess up, but we also get to watch God love others who have messed up. Both sides are hard to comprehend, and Jesus addresses this several times in Luke In Luke 15, Jesus tells three parables that emphasize how much God loves and pursues us.
The repetition is worth noticing, because it means this is a really big deal! We studied the story of the prodigal son, in Luke The story is probably familiar, but it is a rich passage full of practical applications for all of us.
When the first son returns, broken and empty-handed, the scene would have been shocking. Jesus paints the picture of a God and father who loves recklessly and no matter what. Jesus wants us to notice both brothers, and especially notice how God responds to each with the same patient, unfailing love. Thinking back on the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15, what definitions of love from the memory verses do you see the father in the story portraying? Humpty Dumpty. Elephants Balancing.Question: "Why does God love us? And no human would ever be able to answer it sufficiently. One thing is certain, however. God does not love us because we are lovable or because we deserve His love. If anything, the opposite is true. The state of mankind since the fall is one of rebellion and disobedience.
Who can know it? In our natural state, we do not seek God; we do not love God; we do not desire God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one. To understand this we must understand something of the nature and character of God.
This is a profound statement. His nature and essence are love. Love permeates His very being and infuses all His other attributes, even His wrath and anger. Glorifying God is the highest, the best, and the most noble of all acts, so, naturally, glorifying Himself is what He must do, because He is the highest and the best, and He deserves all glory.
Rather, it is agape love, the love of self-sacrifice. He demonstrates this sacrificial love by sending His Son to the cross to pay the penalty for our sin 1 Johnby drawing us to Himself Johnby forgiving us of our rebellion against Him, and by sending His Holy Spirit to dwell within us, thereby enabling us to love as He loves. He did this in spite of the fact that we did not deserve it. He knows each of us individually and loves us personally.
His is a mighty love that has no beginning and no end. Why does God love us? It is because of who He is: "God is love. Share this page on:.
Everything is under control here! Now sometimes I had to correct or discipline Rommel for something he had done or for the occasional accident around the house. However, no matter what I did, whether it was a reprimand or withholding attention from time to time, he never seemed to love me any less.
Rommel was always happy to see me and longed for my company. One day while I was playing with him, the Lord taught me a lesson. But this realization also taught me something about Jesus: He never changes, and His love never waivers. No matter what I do or how I fail, He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
The world is loud, but God still speaks, listens, and loves us completely. Have you heard about the supremacy of Jesus Christ over all things? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.
And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.
These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. They deserve it. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.
Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath. When I saw her, I wondered greatly. I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.
And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.Find my purpose how do you find happiness what is the meaning of life destiny purpose for life making a decision choice choices how to choose forgiveness how to live life assignment how to pray The Choice Driven Life.
I John NIV. When we begin comparing ourselves with others, we can conclude that something is wrong with us. Good relationships are based on love and acceptance — never on fear. We need to learn how to separate how important we are to God from what we do — right or wrong.
It is totally unscriptural to think that our acceptance is based on our performance. There is not one place in the Bible that you can come to God because of what YOU did and because you are such a nice person. He paid for everything we have ever done and will ever do. He pardoned us from guilt and reconciled us to God. Choose to believe that your acceptance by God is a gift. It can never be earned. Blessed is the man who knows he has right standing with God apart from the works he does.
Let nobody tell you otherwise! When you became born again, you were given right standing with God. Your acceptance by God is not based on being good. Surrounded by all this beauty, thoughts from reading through the Bible merge with what I see and hear. He created the world I see and hear from my porch, and He created and chose the Israelites centuries ago to carry out His will.
He had patience with them, again and again. We all wonder about the violence and wars that God allowed and even commanded in the Old Testament, but how about all the times God loved and forgave these people that He had chosen? God asked one thing: love and worship only me. Have no other gods before me. Peculiar, as this is the Bible, after all! It struck me that this is a strong message of hope for our day and age, with imperfect, morally flawed humans abounding…just like those Israelites centuries ago.

GOD LOVES US NO MATTER WHAT
Many of us struggle with conceptualizing the enduring, sacrificial, infinite, and unconditional love of our heavenly Father. Most of us struggle with even imagining that a love without some sort of condition even exists. Yet, God wants us not only to know that such a love exists, but also really believe it and receive it. As you read through these, ask God to confirm in your heart and mind that this is how he thinks and feels toward you:.
I assumed that God loved me only when I was performing and achieving. My experience with thousands of Christians is that we all struggle to some degree with believing God loves us unconditionally. This passage in Zephaniah can help us overcome this faulty thinking: The Lord your God is with you; He is mighty to save and deliver. He will quiet you with His love and rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah In this passage, God tells a rebellious people that He actually stands over them singing and rejoicing, like a mother sings over her children to calm them down. As a believer in Jesus Christ, His spirit dwells inside of us. Romans also reminds us of this truth.
